Fernbank Adds Latin Sizzle to Martinis & IMAX® with Hot & Spicy “Salsa Nights”

8/26/10 Everyone in Atlanta has been feeling a little hot lately, but the temperature has nothing to do with it on Salsa Night Fridays at Fernbank Museum. Always a popular special occasion, Martinis & IMAX�� will now feature Salsa Night on the third Friday of every month. Although Martinis & IMAX hibernates for winter during the entire month of December, Fernbank has shaken things up with one bonus Salsa Night on December 17, 2010.

Salsa Nights bring Salsambo Dance Studio to Martinis & IMAX, offering incredible opportunities to enjoy Latin dancing (or appreciating the dance skills of others) with early-evening lessons for those who want a little practice before they heat up the dance floor. A special  guest DJ provides the rhythmic beats.

Traditional Martinis & IMAX nights always feature cocktails, dinner, IMAX films and music every Friday from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Hip, cool and fun new jazz bands have been added to the regular line-up.

Derryl Rivers and the Flying Circus
Blues, Jazz and a slight bit of funk.

October 8
The Nick Longo Band
Diverse and energetic while encompassing originality amongst a broad spectrum of styles.

October 15
Salsambo Dance Studio DJ
Spice things up with sassy Latin rhythms including Salsa, Merengue, Cha-Cha-Cha, and Bachata.

October 22
Joe Gransden Trio
Vocalist and trumpeter Joe Gransden and his Trio play a variety of jazz including old standards with a romantic flair.

October 29

Electromatics
A combination of Chicago/West Coast Blues, Blue Eyed Soul, and an essence of Standard Jazz and Sinatra.

November 12
The Kayla Taylor Quartet
Vocalist Kayla Taylor performs a soulful mix of jazz standards.

November 19
Salsambo Dance Studio DJ
Spice things up with sassy Latin rhythms including Salsa, Merengue, Cha-Cha-Cha, and Bachata.

November 26
Kingsized
Musical group entertains with a king-sized variety of ballads, jazz standards, bebop and more!

Fernbank Museum of Natural History is located at 767 Clifton Road in Atlanta. Current films for Martinis & IMAX include Cirque du Soleil: Journey of Man through November 26, and Pulse: A STOMP Odyssey, through September 24.
