Grand Opening Event - Saturday, March 19
Museum Open for Daily Viewing - Sunday, March 20

2/17/11 In high style, the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) will launch its new space on Peachtree Street with a Grand Opening Party celebrating its move to the Midtown Arts Corridor. The evening will double as a fundraiser and will offer attendees a chance to preview the inaugural exhibition, Passione Italiana: Design of the Italian Motorcycle.

Museum of Design Atlanta Grand Opening Party

The party will feature all things Italian including cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and the thrilling motorcycle exhibition. There will be photo ops galore with Italian-styled extras, a spectacular Italian theme silent auction including a private wine tasting, a ride on the racetrack at the Barber Vintage Sports Museum and an ultra-chic ladies accessories package. A not-to-be-missed soundtrack will keep the party in high gear. Vroom Vroom!

Saturday, March 19
7 to 10 p.m.

MODA in Midtown:
1315 Peachtree Street
Atlanta, Georgia 30309

Tickets are $100 per person and will be available at www.museumofdesign.org or by calling 404.979.6455.

The Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA), in association with the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, introduces Passione Italiana curated by Joe Remling of ai3, Inc. – an examination of the astonishing design passion and technological advancement behind the most desired motorcycles in the world. This exhibition presents eleven masterpieces of Italian motorcycle design spanning the last five decades including motorcycles by MV Agusta, Ducati, Bimota and Moto – Morini.

With a dynamic and exclusive mixed media backdrop and freestanding interpretative stations, the exhibition will showcase and discuss the design of Italian motorcycles in the larger context of fashion, industrial and furniture design. This rare and intimate exhibition will compare design and technological advancements of vintage Italian motorcycles to their contemporary counterparts. By exploring the ingenuity and creative evolution of Italian motorcycle design, Passione Italiana will expose the raw passion of their designers and riders.

The new MODA is housed on the ground floor of a building artfully restored by Perkins+Will, one of Atlanta’s leading architectural firms. The upper floors include the Perkins+Will Architecture firm and the Peachtree Branch of the Atlanta Public Library. With the move, MODA acquires 9,000 square feet of space in a building is on track to receive LEED Platinum certification — the highest environmental rating awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council.
