8/12/09 Photographs by local artist, Melanie Walter, are
featured in the Fall Art Show at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse through Oct. 24. The
photography exhibit is entitled “Southern Recollection.”
“Life is so
busy; most people don’t have or take the time to view the
complexity and beauty of the world around them. My
mission is to create images that bring the outdoors-in [and]
give people the opportunity to appreciate the world they may
be missing”, said Walter.
Southern
Recollection is a collection of favorite flora, landscape
and architectural images from the Deep
South. The collection, personally selected
by Ms. Walter, is to bring back memories and create
inspiration in others to explore our unique southern
heritage.
Walter is a
Georgia native who specializes in
timeless outdoor and architectural photography. Her
inspiration comes from intelligent designs – shapes and
patterns – whether it be God’s or man’s. She is
primarily self-taught, but did study photography at Southeastern Center for the arts in the early 90’s.
Photography has always been her creative outlet. Ms.
Walter currently resides in Lawrenceville with her husband
and two children.
Southern Recollection” will be having an opening with
refreshments on Thursday, Aug.13, 2009 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The
