39th Powers Crossroads Festival On Labor Day Weekend

8/5/09 One of Coweta County's oldest continuing traditions is the Powers Crossroads Country Fair and Art Festival held annually over the Labor Day Weekend. As usual the focus in this year's festival (held on September 5 - 7, 2009) will be on arts and crafts vendors and musical entertainment, including again this year The Rising Star music competition. Information on the festival is available on its new website, www.powersfestival.org or by contacting Carol Chancey at 770-253-2011 or cowetafestivals@charter.net.

One new feature, added last year and continuing this year, will be a book signing by Coweta County authors. The authors participating and the books they will be signing will be announced after August 22.

The Powers Festival is run by volunteers from the Newnan-Coweta Art Association, the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce, the Coweta 4 H Club, the Newnan-Coweta Jaycees, and the Pilot Club of Coweta. It is held on the Powers Plantation, which is a very large site, which is needed for the large number of arts & crafts vendors, which come from all over the nation, and for parking for the large number of attendees.
